The Bluebird Exhibition
gallery
Sculpture of Donald Campbell by Graham Ballsculpture

Despite laying in a wrecked state at the bottom of the lake for many years, Bluebird will look as new when completed, so the problem is to remind people that it is not a reproduction but in a manner which is not sinister. The textures of the boat as she was raised from the bed of the lake are being used as a reminder.

The story of the recovery and restoration can be seen at Bill Smiths site:

This is a large ongoing project which includes a video wall and touch screen kiosks for many pages of information and imagery. The gallery also holds Campbells ‘Jetstar’ boat, and will contain much of the museums collection of Campbell material in specially designed cases designed by Chris Brammall. His work can be seen on his site:

The gallery is now open to the public in a ‘draft’ form, with Jetstar, some material from the collection, the touch screens and the video wall.
